The CalCreative PTSA is a not-for-profit service organization that works to ensure the best possible experience and environment for CalCreative children, teachers and staff. We are a part of the California PTA and the National PTA: the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. We speak with one voice for every child.
The PTSA helps strengthen the California Creative Learning Academy (CalCreative) community in two ways.
WE RAISE MONEY by holding fundraisers such as Jog-a-Thon, Art to Remember and CalCreative merchandise sales. Money goes towards classroom materials, professional development for our teachers, building improvements, field trips, technology support, Artist in Residence, PE equipment, counseling interns, teacher appreciation activities and much more. We work with the CalCreative administration and staff to ensure that our students and staff have the resources and materials they need.
WE SHOW UP. Movie Night, Book Fair, First Friday Coffees, Dodger Night, Lost and Found Organization, Teacher Appreciation Week, International Day of Peace, MLK Day of Service – all events planned and staffed by PTSA volunteers. Activities that give our students and families a chance to have fun, build community, support our school and make great memories.
One thing that makes our school so special is our parent participation. Studies have shown that children do better in school when parents volunteer – and our children are the beneficiaries of our dedicated CalCreative parents.
We encourage you to get involved at our school – it truly does make a difference and will enrich the CalCreative experience for both you and your child. No matter what your availability there are volunteer opportunities that can fit your schedule. We are parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors who have come together to work toward common goals and we would love to have you join us!
We understand that time is a parent’s most precious commodity, so we don’t want to waste yours. We’ll be sending occasional PTSA emails to let you know what’s going on and what volunteer time is needed. Whatever your schedule is like – even if you only have 30 minutes to spare – you’ll find opportunities to help; days, evenings, or even from home.
And although you aren’t required to attend meetings, everyone is welcome. Meetings are generally an hour long, there’s always a special topic and FREE childcare is always provided by our amazing CAP staff.
